PROBABLE CASES OF CORONAVIRUS AT GREENVUE KINDERGARTEN
Dear parents and carers,
Three members of our early childhood education and care service have tested positive to be probable cases for COVID-19 on 6th & 7th July 2022.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
If your child is not experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, they can continue to attend ECEC, and you should monitor for symptoms.
If your child is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, they must:
not attend the service until their acute symptoms have resolved and they are well
undertake a rapid antigen test or a PCR test as soon as possible
self-quarantine until they receive a negative result.
If your child returns a positive RAT result and has symptoms, your child likely has COVID-19.
You must advise the service and the Department of Health about the positive result
Your child must stay home for 7 days and only leave home once they feel well.
Positive RAT with no symptoms
If your child tests positive with a RAT but does not have symptoms, and you don’t believe they have been in contact with anyone with COVID-19, it is recommended to get a PCR test within the first 48 hours of testing positive and stay isolated at all times until they receive their result. If the PCR test result is positive, you must follow the steps above.
If your child’s subsequent PCR test is negative, they will be able to leave isolation and return to their early childhood service.
RAT Program
It is recommended that rapid antigen tests are only used by children when symptomatic. Rapid antigen tests must be used for 5 days if a child (applicable to everyone regardless of age) is an identified close contact with a confirmed case and they are attending or working at ECEC service.
Information about how to do a test is available at Rapid antigen tests | Coronavirus Victoria
REPORTING YOUR CHILD’S POSITIVE TEST
If your child has tested positive for COVID-19, you must let the service know.
You must also report your positive result to the Department of Health via the COVID-19 Positive
Rapid Antigen Test Self-Reporting Form or the call centre on 1800 675 398.
Advice and further resources about what to do if you test positive for COVID-19 or have been told you are a contact, can be found on the Coronavirus Victoria website.
Yours sincerely,
Mohd Nauman.
